The Walk-With Assistant was originally designed with the psychological professional in mind.  At it’s core, the WWA is a tool that supports behavioral changes by increasing the likelihood of treatment compliance and provides an easier way to collect patient reported information between scheduled appointments.

How can the Walk-With Assistant benefit my patients?

  • Instruct the WWA session to remind your patient about different coping strategies based on their feedback.
  • View the collected information prior to or during the patient’s scheduled appointment.

Example Uses with Popular Approaches

Arrow Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

When using CBT to help a patient recognize destructive thought patterns, use a WWA session scheduled randomly a few times throughout each day to help train the patient become more aware of the direction of their thoughts, provide them with a personalized healthy thinking options to review as necessary, and  track their perceived progress in recognizing and changing destructive thought patterns.

ArrowDialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

When using DBT to teach emotional regulation skills, use a WWA session to track day to day client perceived level of depression, intensity of self injurious thoughts, and use of learned skills to regulate emotions.  Based on the client’s response, follow-up with specific instructions such as reminding them of their DBT contract with you when they indicate a high level of self injurious thoughts. 

Schedule a additional sessions week to week with homework assignments that focus on the specific skill being learned such as self-soothing, or improving the moment and, track the patient’s perception of progress with this skill.
